Wow. We've been living here a while. Finally stopped in and it's definitely going to be our place to go for excellent home cookin'. We had turkey and cranberry sandwich on croissant, lemon crunch pie, and bread pudding pie. The bread pudding is made from day-old cinnamon rolls which they make from scratch and they are HUGE!! We'll definitely be back. I can hardly wait to try their breakfast. Friendly, excellent service, too. No...it's not organic, but sometimes I forgive a place that tries so hard to do everything else right.

I LOVE OREGON. EXPECT ME TO MOVE HERE EVERYDAY and this place would be my #1 breakfast place. got the french toast with strawberries and whipped cream... oh my god. best i've ever had in my life. would eat everything here yumm!

Atmosphere: typical diner scene. Cool. Breakfast: ditto, albeit slightly on the expensive side. Note, however, the portions are huge so if you split a dish with your friend it is good value. Service was friendly and efficient. As or the PIE, I give their cherry pie a thumbs-up: good, juicy filling and decent crust! I'll be back. Just wish I didn't have to go across the street to get espresso! :-) NOTE to travelers rushing up and down the I-5... you have to drive through chain-store-hell right off the freeway to get to the heart of 'old town' Grants Pass to find Powderhorn and a variety of other far-more-worthy restaurants. It's only an extra 3 minutes and do you REALLY need another forgettable meal at Jack-in-the-Box?

Typical good ol boys type diner. Nice people every time I eat here is always a good experience. Thanks for making mornings comfortable.

This place is five stars for what it is- an all American, great breakfast spot. There is an amazing pie case as well. The biscuits are super fluffy, extra tall. The service is fast and all the usual breakfast fare is to be found. It's not fancy, it's not seasonal. You'll probably be eating with a bunch of regular not fancy people. It's what breakfast should be.

My favorite breakfast in grants pass. Low prices, big portions, and quality food. Friendly staff and a classic diner feel.

Powderhorn Cafe is a family owned and operated business and they extend that feeling to their customers.. It didn't take long for my husband and I to become regulars. Great knowing we could walk in and they would know us know what we liked to drink and have them on our table as we sat down and knew our order. Never needed to ask for a refill since they are so on top of their things I would have a back up one just in time. Their home made hashbrowns are to die for and they don't skimp out on you they really give you a great portion size. Love coming here!!

Good diner, owners are very religious, offensive literature was placed on wall the tables. I won't go there again.

The Pie is 4 plus stars! Order Pie. Sandwiches are ordinary. Breakfast is good. Coffee is typical Farmer Bros. coffee shop stuff. If I wasn't overweight already, I'd have pie for breakfast here. Their 1/2 sandwich special with soup or salad (have the soup -- it is better), includes a huge slice of pie. Price? $7.75 for all 3. Now that's a deal!s. I agree with previous reviewer. Go across the street to Dutch Brothers and get your awesome coffee. This beats any Denny's, Elmer's or Shari's. Get off the I-5 and find this place. It is worth it if you order the pie. Do you think I like their pie? Well I like it well enough to buy whole pie gift certificates for friends for their birthdays!

I dont know where to begin.l'm still in shock from my experience in the powderhorn this morning. My wife and I eat at the powderhorn often and always enjoy it... until today. We found an unbussed booth to sit in and waited for someone to come along and clean it. Five minutes later our surly server came along and cleaned the table, brushing the crumbs onto our laps and bruskly taking our drink orders. She returned with our drinks and our menus, left and came back without giving us any time to look at our menus. After being pressured to order (like in the drive thru at the fast food) the food was as slipshod as the service. My overcooked over mediums came out without toast as did my wife's chicken fried steak and eggs. She asked for crispy hash browms and they came out burnt whereas mine were undercooked. When we called our server over to complain about my wife's burnt hashbrowns, she took the entire plate away, and then she returned minutes later and asked if my wife wanted her food to go. All she wanted was a recook on the potatoes! Meanwhile I still haven't received any toast and most of my food is gone. So much time elapsed and the food never did get straightened so that when we left my wife had barely eaten and we had to go somewhere else so my wife could properly eat. They did take five dollars off the bill and gave us a slice of pie (it was horrible!) but that doesn't make up for sub-par food and hostile service. I grudgingly give them one star only because my breakfast was edible. Sorry powderhorn but it's going to be a while before we cross your dated doors again

Probably the worst breakfast I have ever had. I am speaking only for their breakfast sandwiches and their eggs and hash browns, because this is what I have tried. The waitress said that they don't use egg beaters, but I have a very hard time believing that. Both the sandwich and the eggs and hash browns meals were beyond poor in quality and the service was very slow. I know that people rave about Powderhorn's pies, but their breakfast and service is extremely disappointing.

Came here for breakfast and ordered the chicken fried steak and my friend got the strawberry pancakes. Everything is massive and delicious so come hungry or prepared to take half of it home. The staff is really sweet and attentive!

--- Warm, super-friendly service but food just didn't agree with me --- Pros + Cute atmosphere inside. Lots of those signs that people put up in their kitchens like "Dessert is Stressed spelled backwards", etc. I like that -- may not be your thing. (BTW,

Had 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and 2 bacon. Bacon and eggs were cold and the pancakes were average. Price was good and the service was exceptional. That is why I gave 3 stars, the waitress was very friendly, attentive, and you could tell was happy to be there. Because of this I will go back to see if other items on the menu are better than what I had.

Really great breakfast, hash browns were perfect. Had chicken fried steak and it was the best my man had ever eaten! I loved my bacon and eggs, it was not greasy, the cook knows what he is doing. Staff is nice, but no one tells you to seat yourself, which is how it goes. So seat yourself!

Excellent pie and foods not to bad either. Typical small town mom and pop place. Local hangout.

This was a lovely oasis on the way from the Oregon Country Fair back to San Francisco - we drove down the main drag of Grant's Pass, past the Denny's and the McDonald's, until my spider sense for food started tingling. I give them five stars, for what it is - a totally non-pretentious diner cafe. Don't expect it to be what it isn't, and you will be happy. And you'll be happier if they've got fresh strawberry pie on the menu. Oooooh maaaan.

I ate here for breakfast and it was good. I had the biscuits and gravy - good/not great but I'm pleased it was homemade! My husband had an omelet cooked the way he ordered it and the hashbrowns were also homemade Took a piece of cherry pie home and ate it hours later and it was delicious! Tasty buttery crust :) Service was very friendly and accommodating.

We came for lunch. The food was typical diner food, and we would have been pleased if it weren't for the fact that the salad meal that we ordered had lettuce that was turning brown around the edges. Some of the leaves had even started breaking down and turning rotten. Fortunately the wait-staff struck the salad dish from the bill and were very apologetic. I hear their pies are good, but we did not have any.

I was thrilled to learn (around the 1st of the year) that the old owners were going to reclaim the Powdehorn. Bad on me for not updating my review sooner. My original review stands!!!

Showed up on a week day 9 am, with 8 people, no reservations. Waitress asked how many, we could see all tables were full. Shortly patrons finished and left making room for us. They were not rushed by staff. We were seated and soon had food on the table. New customers arrived and room was made, time after time. This did not go unnoticed by me. Is it Grants Pass, or is it that powderhorn patrons are more cordial? Good food and service. And..Thank you great patrons.

Food was not cooked enough.... Service was poor and I wouldn't eat here if they where giving food away.... Didn't live up to it's reputation

We came here for breakfast. I had the pancakes--they were DELICIOUS. I had pie too, and even took a piece with me on the airplane for my trip home. The waitresses were all so kind and so sweet, and one took my niece to look at the pie case.
(5)Britt A.
The food isn't bad, but it was really on the expensive side, more than I would have expected to pay for breakfast. And the waitress that helped us seemed to be annoyed, and was kind of short with us, but the one who said goodbye to us as we were leaving seemed much more friendly. I wouldn't not come here again, but it wouldn't be my first pick either.

Awesome place for good home-style food; friendly, cheerful and long term staff that totally make The Powderhorn our "goto place" for breakfast! Monster Ice tea, delicious omelettes and don't forget the PIE! Yum!!!
(4)Gerrie L.
This is our 'go to' place for good homestyle cooking! Their breakfasts are legendary, huge and ALL American. It's at least a half hour drive for us, but we go as often as possible, usually every other month-and have been doing that for at least ten years. The help is spectacularly efficient, remember everything you like, even after just a few visits. My favorite is the garden omelet, loaded with veggies, smothered in cheese and served with hashbrowns and toast-not for the diet concious, but WOW!
